Charlottesville Man Charged in Gordonsville Homicide

LOCATION: Gordonsville, Virginia
SUSPECT/OFFENDERS: William Oddie Flannagan, Jr. 45, Charlottesville
VICTIM: Jason Ferguson, 43, Gordonsville
CHARGES: Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Use of a firearm in commission of a felony, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On July 3, 2019 at approximately 11:01 PM a call was received for a shooting in the 300 block of Penta Drive. Caller stated that two of her son’s friends were in their garage and that one had shot the other in the head and provided a description of the possible suspect (Will Flannagan a b/m in his 40’s).
Caller further stated that Will Flannagan had left the residence and was walking down the driveway towards Penta Drive. Officers responding made contact with a subject matching the description of the suspect at the intersection of Penta Drive and Holiday Road.
William Oddie Flannagan, Jr, was taken into custody and the firearm was recovered in the area of the rear entrance to Economy Propane on Holiday Road.
Additional officers responded to the address on Penta Drive and lifesaving efforts were begun on the victim (Jason Ferguson, 43, Gordonsville) who was transported to UVA Medical Center.
Charges were obtained for aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. William Flannagan, Jr was held without bond and will be brought to General District Court Tuesday, July 9th, 2019.
The office of the Medical Examiner contacted the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office to speak to the lead detective and advised that Jason Ferguson had died.
Additional charges for murder are pending. This incident is still being investigated.
