Cameron Moore Tied for Lead at 106th VSGA Amateur Championship
KESWICK, Va. (WVIR) - Virginia Tech rising sophomore Cameron Moore is tied for the lead with Clifford Foster after the first round of the 106th VSGA Amateur Championship at Keswick Golf Club.
Moore and Foster are both 4-under par, after shooting a 68 in the opening round.
"I had a really, really strong back nine, four-under, to get me to that number," says Moore. "I didn't start off too well. I was 2-over through four. I started putting a little better. I was putting the tee balls in the fairway, and started making birdies, and that's how I got it done."
David Rabil and Greg Pappas are tied for third at 2-under par, while seven players are tied for fifth at 1-under.
Former champion David Passerell is tied for 16th after an opening round 73, and 2018 champ Trey Smith (77) is in 59th place.
Stroke play will continue in the second round on Tuesday, and match play will begin on Wednesday.
