Glenmore Country Club to Offer Free Wedding to Honor Service Members
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A country club in Albemarle County is hoping to honor members of the military and first responders by giving them the chance to have the wedding of their dreams for free.
Glenmore Country Club is calling the event “Love and Liberty,” and anyone who is an active member of the military, a veteran, or a first responder can enter to win.
The wedding will take place on September 11 at the clubhouse.
The Keswick-based club was inspired by another country club in Maryland that came up with the idea when no one had scheduled to book the venue for the day.
Organizers say having celebrating a wedding on that day will help honor those who put their lives on the line to serve our country.
“They plan to get married, then one gets deployed and you have to find a way to work with that,” Tyler Rae Delang, the country club’s social media manager, said. “So, most of the time they just go to the justice of the peace call it good and plan to get married one day, but it doesn't happen and I just think this is the perfect opportunity to allow them to have that. "
“This is a way for us to continually show those who serve that we appreciate them and if we can give a small gift and a thank you, we really want to do that,” Michelle Conner, the country club’s marketing director, said.
The lucky winners can have up to 100 people attend, and the Glenmore Country Club will provide the dinner reception nonalcoholic drinks.
The last day to enter is July 3, and a winner will be announced on July 4.
