Charlottesville Symphony Donates Percussion Instruments to Day Care Center
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The next Beethoven might be discovered at Charlottesville's Barrett Early Learning Center, thanks to a big donation.
The Charlottesville Symphony donated over $600 worth of children's percussion instruments to the school on Monday, June 24.
Linda Smith, the chair of the symphony’s education committee, taught the students a music lesson to show them how to use the new instruments.
She says music offers her a way to give back to the community.
“Music is something you can do as a profession but it’s also something very rewarding just to do in the community, and so I feel very blessed that music has been such a big part of my life and I want to share that with others," Smith said.
Smith, along with Patricia Davis and the Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation, donated the funds for the instruments.
