How an app reminding you of your inevitable death could make you happier
Would you pay for an app that reminds you about death five times a day?
You will die. It's the one thing we know for certain. But would you pay for an app to remind you of that inconvenient truth five times a day?
Inspired by a Bhutanese folk saying, the app "WECroak" claims by receiving reminders about death, you will be happier.
The rationale behind the belief is that by contemplating death, one can truly feel happy inside.
The app sends notifications that come at random times throughout the day, just like death. When you click on the notification, you can read a philosophical quote.
However, the reminders about your mortality aren't free — there is a $1 fee.
While some may not agree with the app, others say the app allows you to appreciate life and live freely.
The app has a 4-star rating in the app store. We looked at many of the reviews, and many users loved the app, stating it helped them better accept death.
