LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A group of volunteers that found a dog with a six-pound chain embedded in his neck is now searching for a forever home for him.

After a serious surgery and lengthy recovery, Danny Boy, a seven-year-old mixed breed, is ready to be adopted.

Volunteers from the organization Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge rescued Danny Boy from a home in Louisa County three months ago. The community then rallied around the pup in March to help cover the costs of his $1,800 surgery.

Now, Dogs Deserve Better is hoping someone will open his or her home to Danny Boy. The nonprofit says he's very social and interacts well with other dogs, cats, and children.
