CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A central Virginia synchronized swim team drew a large crowd on Friday night, raising money ahead of one of the largest competitions in the country. The Charlottesville Swans took to the water at Fry's Spring Beach Club for Friday's ‘Sink and Drink’ show.

The team showcased routines that will be performed at in June's Junior Olympics competition in New York.

"The girls are really excited. We have seven routines, and they've worked on them all year. Of course, in the end, you're trying to tweak them and they've improved and they've gotten more endurance, so they're traveling further. So, we have final touches to put on, but we're excited,” said Coach Samantha Elhart.

The team also raised money Friday night by raffling off 50 bottles of wine. The event marked the fifth time the team has qualified for the Junior Olympics, in its 7-year existence.
