CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - On Sunday afternoon, Charlottesville Parks & Recreation kicked off its annual Sunday Sundowns series at Washington Park Pool. The free community celebration gives families a chance to swim, eat, and enjoy the day together.

"The pool, it's a really great way to bring people together, it's a great activity that everyone can participate in, we've got a shallow end over here, spray features," said Kate Purnell, facilities outside program manager.

The series is sponsored in part by the Bama Works Fund and the Leroi Moore Fund. The next two events in this series will be on July 7 and August 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
