ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The rain on Friday did not keep people from hitting the links to raise money for the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office Foundation. Golfers gathered at Old Trail Golf Course for the 8th Annual Sheriff's Posse Golf Roundup.

Each year the foundation looks to raise about $40,000 to help fund the sheriff's office programs.

“Such as search and rescue, Project Lifesaver and they provide bullet proof vest for the reserves. As well as all of their uniforms and equipment so it's no cost to them to come and join our reserve division,” said Chan Bryant, chief deputy for Albemarle County Sheriff's Office.

40 teams split between the morning and evening gathered to support the Albemarle County Sheriff's Office Foundation. NBC29 is a proud sponsor of the event.
