Charlottesville Fire Department Press Release:

Charlottesville, Va – The Charlottesville Fire Department responded for a reported house fire in the 800 block of Page Street at 6:29 a.m. The first unit arrived at 6:33 a.m. and reported heavy smoke from the front of the structure. The crews were able to locate and extinguish the fire quickly. There was significant smoke damage reported to the interior of the structure.
Three engine companies, one ladder company, one medic unit, and one battalion chief responded to this incident. There were no injuries reported.
One individual has been displaced from their home. The Charlottesville Fire Department is working with the family and the American Red Cross to find shelter for them.
Damages are estimated to be around $20,000.
All families are reminded to be sure you have working smoke detectors installed in your home. Test them regularly and change batteries (if applicable) when you change time on clocks twice a year.
