WAYNESBORO, Va. (WVIR) - The treasurer of a parent-teacher organization who embezzled from the group learned her punishment on Wednesday morning in Waynesboro Circuit Court.

Victoria Carter, 33, faces two months behind bars and was also ordered to pay $10,969.49 in restitution. Investigators say Carter used the money from the Berkley Glenn Elementary School PTO for personal use between August 2017 and May 2018.

Carter was found guilty of two counts of embezzlement at trial on Friday. A judge suspended four years and ten months of a five year sentence on each of those charges and ordered her time to run concurrently.

Online court records show eight other embezzlement charges pending "further disposition." Carter is expected back in court in March 2020 to review her restitution.
