ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Police have suspended their search for missing 18-year-old Henry Christian Morin of Doswell in Albemarle County. Crews will continue their efforts Thursday, June 6.

Emergency responders in Albemarle County were first called out to the area of Schuyler Road and Quarry Hill Lane around 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. Someone reportedly was trying to help a distraught group of people said to be with Morin. Crews from several jurisdictions responded, including an underwater recovery team and a canine unit.

Henry Craig has lived near the quarry since 1996, and says it is a popular place to swim.

“You know, kids don't have anywhere to go so they go down there,” said Craig. “Young kids, they took a chance, you know… diving off of quarries.”

Members of Morin's family spoke with police at the scene Wednesday, June 5.

The Albemarle County Police Department says this is still a missing person case, and it will release more information as soon as possible.

Editor's Note: Previous reports had stated the quarry is in Nelson County. Officials have since clarified that it is in Albemarle County.
