ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Passengers on an American Airlines flight got a scare Monday morning when their plane had to make an emergency landing in Albemarle County.

Fire and rescue crews at Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) were prepared for an emergency landing just before 9 a.m. Monday, June 3.

The commercial flight had taken off from Mississippi just before 6 a.m., and was carrying more than 40 people to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.     

Everyone deplaned safely, and eventually got to Reagan.

Authorities have yet to release details about the reason for the emergency landing.
