CLEARWATER, Fla. - You might want to check to make sure your windows are closed and locked before you go to sleep tonight. Twice. Then again. Then again.

The Clearwater Police Department released photos on Friday of an 11-foot-long alligator that broke into someone's house in the middle of the night.

Did we just describe your worst nightmare? Sorry.

Police said the homeowner called them after they found the unwelcomed reptile in their kitchen. The gator appeared to have broken in through low windows.

Perhaps the homeowners cooked up something good for dinner that night? Who could resist the smell of a yummy meal?

A trapper responded with officers, and the team was able to remove the gator without injury, according to a Facebook post.

Next time a little bug gives you a scare while in your home, just remember this story. It could always be worse!
