CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A judge is again ordering Virginia State Police to release their planning document for the August 2017 Unite the Right rally.

Charlottesville Circuit Court Judge Richard Moore’s decision comes more than a year after a similar ruling that went unanswered as state lawyers unsuccessfully appealed to higher courts.

Two journalists brought the case after VSP denied a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request asking for the plan. Judge Moore said back in April 2018 that authorities had 30 days to release the documents to the public.

The judge stated Wednesday, May 22, that he will allow the state to redact parts of VSP’s documents from public view. The question now is how much of that document will be redacted when it is turned over in June. Attorneys are likely to challenge what information ends up being available to the public.
