ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A neighborhood in Albemarle County is pulling together to help out the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. At the Barclay Place Apartments, neighbors held a corn hole tournament and block party on Saturday. People could drop off food for the food bank and enjoy some food with the people they live around.

“I think it’s really important for larger companies in Charlottesville to get involved with the community. It’s nice to have community events so that the residents feel supported but it’s also nice just to be able to benefit to the actual community of Charlottesville,” said Emily Mooney, marketing manager at Great Eastern Management.

Thanks to the turnout, about half of that bucket for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank was filled with nonperishables. Great Eastern Management Company, which runs the Barkley Place property, holds similar events once a month.
