CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Booker T. Washington Park became a melting pot on Saturday afternoon, thanks to people gathering together from all over the world. Saturday, May 11 marked the 16th Annual Festival of Cultures, with music, dancing, crafts, and storytelling taking center stage.

One woman who visited the festival for the past four years said it gives people a chance to open their eyes to new experiences.

“You know that’s how it opens your horizons and you see there are so many people in America who have come from different but they have made it their own country and they are living their American dream,” said Zeba Rizvi, from India.

The festival also featured an oral history studio by WTJU 91.1 FM for people to record their oral histories.
