CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - It was a signing ceremony at Tandem Friends School on Thursday, as Badgers' senior Jalen Anderson signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at West Virginia Wesleyan College next year.

The Division II school is a member of the Mountain East Conference.

Anderson says, "This is what I think about every day. When I was in 9th grade, coming into high school, I never even pictured myself playing college ball. I would just try to put in as much work as I could. I just really couldn't see it, but today's the day, and I'm excited."

Anderson averaged 20.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in his senior season.

The Bobcats are coached by Jack Merriweather, a former Tandem Friends basketball player, who graduated from the school in 2004.

"He knew what I was going through, and the whole recruiting process, and knew how classes were," says Anderson.  "He knew it would be a good fit for me, academically. He's seen me play a few times. We have a little special connection, coming from a school like this."

The 6-foot-1 Anderson played his freshman and sophomore years at William Monroe High School.
