Waynesboro Man Wins $400K Playing MONOPOLY Multiplier
05/09/2019 Release from the Virginia Lottery:
Steven Lomonaco’s son is a big fan of a certain iconic board game. So it’s just natural that the Waynesboro man picked up a MONOPOLY Multiplier Scratcher from the Virginia Lottery when he stopped at Sheetz on West Main Street in Waynesboro on his way home from work.
That turned out to be a $400,000 decision.
When he took the ticket home and scratched it, he realized he’d won the game’s $400,000 top prize,
“It’s absolutely amazing!” he said as he claimed his prize. “We’re still in disbelief!”
MONOPOLY Multiplier is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. It features prizes ranging from $5 to $400,000. The odds of winning that top prize are 1 in 1,836,000. The odds of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 4.04.
Mr. Lomonaco, who is a restaurant general manager, said he intends to use his winnings to pay bills and save for his children.
When it comes to education, the Virginia Lottery is good fun for a great cause. Mr. Lomonaco lives in Waynesboro, which received nearly $2.3 million in Lottery funds for K-12 public education last fiscal year. Operating entirely on revenue from the sale of Lottery products, the Lottery generated more than $600 million for Virginia’s public schools in Fiscal Year 2018. In addition, more than $14 million in unclaimed Virginia Lottery prizes went to Virginia’s Literary Fund in FY18 for school construction and technology upgrades.
