Charlottesville Nonprofit Finds Temporary Solution to Parking Problem
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A Charlottesville nonprofit that recently reported issues related to available parking options nearby now has a temporary solution.
On Our Own has served the Charlottesville community for 30 years out of its 4th Street Northwest location by providing free mental health and addiction peer recovery counseling services.
Earlier in May, the executive director said that employees, volunteers, and clients were told that they could no longer park at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center parking lot, which they’d been doing for free for years.
Erin Tucker, the executive director, also expressed concerns related to cost of alternative parking solutions.
On Wednesday, May 8, the nonprofit announced that though it has not yet found designated spots, the Jefferson School said it will let On Our Own employees park at its lot until they can find a permanent solution.
