VERONA, Va. (WVIR) - Over the next week, United Way of Greater Augusta is celebrating Week of Caring with a variety of projects helping local nonprofits and area schools.

On Tuesday, a dozen employees from the Ball Aerocan Packaging Division in Verona volunteered their time at Project Grows. They rebuilt a pond and spread gravel in one of their education areas.

A plant manager for Ball says they have participated in Week of Caring for the last few years.

“The community is what helps us and just on a personal level, when I give back to the community, I feel good about it because I’m doing things for people,” said Ball plant manager Timothy Montgomery.

Project Grows is an educational farm with a mission to improve the health of children in the Shenandoah Valley.
