AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - An animal cruelty case against an Augusta County woman accused of killing six puppies is moving to a grand jury.

Betsy Hemp, 40, was in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, where a judge certified 12 charges against her. She faces six counts of animal cruelty and six counts of illegal disposal of an animal.

Sheriff's deputies found six puppies shot to death off Trozel Gap Road in Middlebrook last December. They ranged in age from four to six months.
