GORDONSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from across central Virginia flocked to Gordonsville on Saturday to learn a little more about flying.

Dozens gathered at the Gordonsville Municipal Airport for the annual Cub Scout Aviation Day. Scouts were able to get a closer look at some model planes, learn more about aerodynamics and meet with members of the University of Virginia’s Air Force ROTC.

“Well, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts kind of teaches people or scouts different opportunities that they can pursue in life. We try and show as many different things that we can,” said Hayden Irby, boy scout.

The scouts also hosted an evening session of the event on Saturday, focusing more on outer-space. Members from the Charlottesville Astrological Society and UVA's Department Of Astronomy were also in attendance.
