CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The city of Charlottesville is working to make a busy intersection safer for bike riders and pedestrians.

On Wednesday, April 17, city leaders gave people a look at improvements that will be made where Monticello Avenue meets 2nd Street and Ridge Street.

Changes include new bike lanes and new crosswalk alignments.

Existing traffic patterns will remain the same.

The city expects construction to start sometime this fall.
