CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Students at the University of Virginia are working with groups in Charlottesville and Albemarle to protect the Earth.

The Building Bridges Earth Week Expo kicked off this week and on Tuesday, students mingled with environmental organizations. They got a chance to learn about new projects being work on and network for potential internship and job opportunities.

"It's a great chance to [come] together," said event organizer Dana Schroeder. "This year, we're partnering community members with a UVA group at every single table so we can show connections sort of align with the Building Bridges campaign that UVA's President [Jim Ryan] is working on right now...this idea of showing how all the different ways that UVA is interacting with the Charlottesville community."

The Earth Week Expo will continue throughout the week at Newcomb Hall at UVA.
