CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - University of Virginia sophomore guard De'Andre Hunter announced Monday afternoon on Instagram he will declare for the upcoming NBA Draft.

Hunter's announcement comes just hours after teammate Ty Jerome announced his declaration for the draft. Hunter will become the first sophomore in UVA history to declare for the NBA draft.

The Cavaliers won their first ever national championship last Monday behind a career-high 27 points from Hunter, including a late 3-pointer to tie the game and send it to overtime. Hunter averaged 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds this season en route to First-Team All-ACC and ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors.

"Winning a national championship has always been a dream of mine and accomplishing that with this team is something I will never forget," Hunter said in his post. "Playing [in the] NBA was always a lifelong dream."

Hunter is projected as a lottery pick in many mock NBA drafts, with some analysts having him going in the top 10.
