Ty Jerome Announces He's Declaring for NBA Draft
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - University of Virginia junior guard Ty Jerome announced Monday morning he'll forgo his senior season and make himself eligible for the NBA Draft.
Jerome made the announcement on Instagram on Monday morning - one week after UVA won its first NCAA championship. Jerome scored 16 points on 6-16 shooting and added eight assists in the Wahoos' overtime win over Texas Tech.
"My dream has always been to play in the NBA," Jerome said in his post. "Therefore...I know it's the right time to announce that I will be entering the NBA draft. I came to Virginia to win a national championship and to be able to do that with my brothers is a dream come true."
Jerome averaged a career-high 13.6 points per game this season and was named to the All-ACC second team. He also averaged 5.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds. Mock drafts have Jerome being drafted in the late first round or early second round.
Jerome is the first member of the 2018-19 championship team to declare for the NBA draft.
