CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A national championship win for the Wahoos means big business for University of Virginia merchandise shops.

Mincer’s on the UVA Corner opened early on Tuesday morning so dozens of fans could be the first to get their hands on championship gear. Shirts rolled into the shop hot off the press just before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning and went on sale when the store opened at 7:30 a.m.

“We’re one of the first in the national to have all the UVA stuff ready for everybody,” said Mincer’s Vice President Cal Mincer.

Mincer’s has a variety of gear, including the shirts that the team wore after their win on Monday night. Since UVA’s Elite Eight victory, Mincer’s says business has been booming and the shop has all hands on deck to keep up with demand.

“Everyone that we have is going to be either here or at Stonefield helping out trying to manage the crowds and keep everything stocked,” Mincer said.

Many fans celebrated through the night and got to the store early. Fans say the celebration is about more than winning the national championship.

“It’s so insane to believe that’s happened in Charlottesville these last two years and just to get this game, get this feeling of pride about you’s just really awesome,” said second-year student Neil Mather.

Dedicated fans can also commemorate UVA’s win with front page plaques of The Daily Progress from each of the team’s last three wins of the NCAA tournament. Those plaques can be found here.
