First United Methodist Church in Charlottesville held Blessing of the Tartans on Sunday.

Members from the Albemarle Pipes and Drums went out to play a few songs in Scottish attire. The Scottish tradition began during World War II and spread throughout many parts of the world.

"It's important that we share our experiences and our heritages with everybody no matter where you're from and this will be one of many different musicals events on a Sunday,” said Lindsay Harshman, a church member.

After the service, the band walked up Market Street from the church to the Tin Whistle restaurant playing music.
