Augusta County Sheriff's Office Investigates Report of Suspicious Activity
Press Release from Augusta County Sheriff's Office:
On April 4, 2019 at approximately 1654 HRS, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Craigsville Town Police responded to North Poplar Avenue in Craigsville, for a report of suspicious activity.
A red, Chevrolet Equinox was seen in the area approaching children. According to interviews with witnesses, two Hispanic males in the Equinox were taking photos of children and telling them “they were going to be in the movies”.
When one of the child’s parents exited their home, the men in the Chevrolet drove off. Witnesses were unable to observe a tag on the Chevy, but it was described as a newer Chevy Equinox. (Sample image attached)
None of the children said that the men ever asked them to get into the vehicle or go with them.
The area was checked by both the Craigsville Police and the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office with negative results. Anyone with information on the case is requested to contact the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office at (540) 245-5333 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-2017.
