New Charlottesville Nonprofit Helps Mentor City Children With Game Day
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - An up and coming Charlottesville nonprofit is bringing kids together for a day of play.
‘GET BUSY 247’ works to mentor kids from in and around Charlottesville through creative and innovative ways.
On Saturday, several students gathered to play board games, video games and a chance to take home to a few prizes. Organizers said events like the one held Saturday allows children a great opportunity to socialize and engage with one another.
“When I grew up that was my childhood, and I had a lot of fun with that and I had a lot of memories and I think nowadays a lot of kids forget about the candy lands, the sorry, the trouble those type of games where they can learn and have a good time with different kids from all over,” said Devin Gentry, founder of GET BUSY 247’.
The new organization plans to host speakers and various workshops in the future.
In April, the nonprofit plans on having an entrepreneurial session as well as a community Easter Egg Hunt.
