Dog Found with Chain in its Neck Now on Road to Recovery
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A dog named Danny Boy in Louisa County is growing stronger and healthier after volunteers with an animal welfare group found him tied up with a chain embedded in his neck earlier in the week.
Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge discovered Danny Boy on Sunday, March 17, with a six-pound chain stuck in his neck.
The animal's owner surrendered him, and volunteers with the organization took Danny Boy to a veterinarian who performed a two-hour surgery to remove the chain.
By Friday, March 22, Danny Boy was doing much better and well on the road to recovery.
Louisa County Animal Control decided not to press charges against the owner since the owner surrendered the dog.
Dogs Deserve Better is now meeting with Louisa County Animal Control to ensure people who neglect or mistreat their animals like this will face charges in the future.
