Charlottesville's Tourism Continues to Boom, New Hotels Hit the Area
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - As the tourism industry continues to boom, the Charlottesville area is gaining a couple of hotels.
The Quirk Hotel will be located on West Main Street, and the Hampton Inn and Suites will be on the corner of Richmond Road and Stony Point Road.
According to Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce President Elizabeth Cromwell, more hotels in the area generate revenue which supports jobs and other attractions.
"The business community here in Charlottesville, and the greater region, relies on tourism. We have a significant amount of tourism here, but there's still also a great deal of competition for the visitors that come to this area, so it's really important for us to have updated mix of hotels and plays for people to stay,” she said.
Cromwell also said that having more hotels with different price points allows more tourists to come in for special events and holidays.
