CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Women from all sorts of educational roles are working together to grow the next generation of female leaders in the industry.

The Women Education Leaders in Virginia (WELV) hosted its 20th annual conference in Charlottesville Friday, March 15. Teachers, principals and superintendents met for a day of curriculum and networking workshops.

Organizers say many of the sessions also focus on ways to grow the number of women in leadership positions.

“We would like if women would like to be superintendents how do we help prepare them? If they would like to be college presidents or university presidents, how do we prepare at those highest levels? Because we know that women aren't getting those top level positions,” WELV Executive Director Elaine Fogliani said.

The group brings together teachers and other leaders in the field from prekindergarten to higher education.
