STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) - A Richmond consulting firm is presenting a new vision and new business plan for Staunton Crossing.

The Timmons Group spent months developing the draft.

On the back side of the property, they recommended scrapping the idea of the office, residential, and retail which consultant Tim Davey said is dictated by the market. Instead, go with advanced manufacturing and data centers.

"Advanced manufacturing is a place that actually creates great jobs, creates a great tax base, utilizes the strategic location, utilizes the rail and creates an institution or a place where we'll building something, making something, distributing something for the next fifty years,” said Davey.

Davey said a roughly $1 million investment from the city would get Staunton Crossing ready for prospects.
