WAYNESBORO, Va. (WVIR) - Community leaders have cut the ribbon on Blue Ridge Community College's first online outpost.

It's located right in the heart of downtown Waynesboro across from City Hall, and the idea behind it is to make BRCC classes and services more accessible.

John Downey, the BRCC president, says it's hard for some students to get to the Weyers Cave campus and many don't have access to high-speed internet.

"If we can provide an easy place for that to happen close to their homes and increase the number of city and county residents that take courses at Blue Ridge Community College, then we'll consider it a success," Downey said.

The second floor is the future home of Grey Surf, which, according to Downey, is a company that will hire some BRCC students studying in related majors to become cybersecurity technicians.
