Albemarle County Announces Hiring of Deputy Chief for Fire/Rescue
Albemarle County welcomes Heather Childress as deputy chief for the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue.

Albemarle County is pleased to welcome Heather Childress as Deputy Chief for the Albemarle County Department of Fire Rescue.
Childress will be responsible for leading the Volunteer Services Division.
"Heather has a proven track record of success in providing high-quality emergency services, which will be invaluable in helping us meet our system's goals and objectives," said Chief Dan Eggleston.
Childress has more than 25 years of volunteer and career experience in Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), including nearly 23 years with the Lynchburg Fire Department in Lynchburg, Virginia. Prior to accepting this position, Childress served as Lynchburg's Acting Deputy Chief of Administration.
"I am very excited about this opportunity to serve Albemarle County and be a part of this team," said Childress.
Childress earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia and holds a Master of Public Administration from James Madison University. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Lynchburg.
Childress' first day on the job will be April 1, 2019.
