Waynesboro to Work with Consulting Firm in Efforts to Redevelop East End
WAYNESBORO, Va. (WVIR) - Waynesboro is getting $25,000 in consulting services for its East End.
The city aims to redevelop the eastern entrance of Route 250, which is a four-mile corridor that connects the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive to downtown Waynesboro.
Creative Economic Development Consulting will work with the city on how to expand on existing businesses and plan for the future, along with the anticipation of a Virginia Department of Transportation project for the Crozet Tunnel and Sunset Park.
"We're hoping that this marketing services contract will help us put those puzzle pieces together looking at it from the outside,” Greg Hitchin, Waynesboro’s economic development director, said. “So they'll have a much different perspective on what the area might bring from the outside along with our inside information and how does that come together."
Hitchin expects to have something in hand by the end of this year.
