Harrisonburg Police Department Makes Arrests in Walmart Shooting Incident
Harrisonburg, Va. – The Harrisonburg Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate an attempted malicious wounding that occurred on March 7 at 6:30 p.m. outside the Walmart on Burgess Road. During the investigation, two suspects, a male adult, and a male juvenile were identified and taken into custody at approximately 10:00 p.m.
D’Andre Marques Moats, 18 years of age, from Grottoes, was arrested and charged with two (2) counts of principal in the 2nd degree to attempted malicious wounding. He is currently being held at the Rockingham County Regional Jail.
The juvenile was charged with two (2) counts of attempted malicious wounding.
“The incident was a complete disregard for public safety that could have easily ended in a tragic conclusion,” said HPD’s Criminal Investigations Division Commander Lieutenant Rod Pollard. HPD has not received any reports of injuries at this point, but are continuing to interview witnesses and follow up on the investigation. “The magnitude of public harm that was displayed by these offenders cannot be tolerated by HPD nor the community,” Pollard added.
