HARRISONBURG, Va. (WVIR) - A scary situation unfolded on Thursday night at the Burgess Road Walmart in Harrisonburg.

Police responded around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, for reports of shots fired.

No one was believed to be injured during the incident and police say they do now have a suspect in custody.

Police have not yet commented on what may have led up to the shooting.

Police are asking people to avoid the area until they can complete their investigation.

Harrisonburg, Va. – HPD’s Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate a shots fired call that occurred this evening at approximately 6:30 pm. outside the Walmart on Burgess Road. No one was believed to be injured during the incident.

At 10:00 pm., a suspect was taken into custody.

No one was believed to be injured during the incident, and HPD believes that the individuals involved departed the scene on foot. HPD’s Major Crimes Unit is currently on the scene and continues to investigate.
