AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Delegate Steve Landes announced earlier this week that he will not seek re-election and instead run to become Augusta County’s Clerk of Court. Now, the race to fill his 25th District House seat is heating up.

Two candidates announced their intentions to run for the district that spans both Albemarle and Augusta County. Richard Fox and Marshall Pattie  will both seek the Republican nomination for the House seat.

Fox is a farmer in Albemarle County. He has a launch event planned for Saturday in Crozet.

Current Augusta County supervisor Pattie held a campaign launch event on Thursday afternoon in Mount Sidney. The 41-year-old James Madison University professor says he is running on the principal of conservative values and a consistent track record.

“I have a diverse background of education,” Pattie said. “I have the experience of legislation but I also was an internal auditor and risk consultant, so I bring that aspect to it as well..

Pattie said he will be focused on how government can be run better and how people can be managed more efficiently.

On Wednesday, Chris Runion – a businessman from the Shenandoah Valley - also announced his bid for the Republican nomination.
