Dozens gathered to support Democrat Jennifer Lewis on Saturday, as she announced her campaign to run for delegate in Virginia’s 20th District.

The 20th District makes up parts of Augusta, Highland and Nelson Counties, as well as Waynesboro and Staunton cities.

Lewis said her main goal if elected would be to stop the Atlantic Coast Pipeline and pass the Equal Rights Amendment.

“The Democratic Party no one is going to be surprised when I say this, the Democratic has had a tough couple of weeks and I'm excited to bring the new energy, a positive attitude to the democratic party and bring people back together.”

Lewis aims to replace Delegate Richard P. "Dickie" Bell who had served the area since 2010. Dickie is not seeking re-election.

All legislative seats are on the ballot for the upcoming November election.
