PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - If you see a Punta Gorda police officer with a goatee, it's for a good cause.

One of Punta Gorda's own, officer Catherine Stewart, is battling cancer. After a simple visit in October of 2018, doctors diagnosed Stewart with multiple myeloma.

The diagnosis came shortly after her second stint with the Punta Gorda Police Department.

Officer Stewart has two children, so her fellow officers are stepping in to lessen the financial burden.

Officer Stewart has been serving her community for over thirty years. She is undergoing heavy treatment right now.

If you'd like to help out, you can find the link to her GoFundMe page here.
