ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A longtime defense attorney wants to serve on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.

Mike Hallahan announced his campaign for the Scottsville District seat early Tuesday, January 29. That seat is currently held by Democrat Rick Randolph.

Hallahan, who is running as a Republican, says he wants to keep the county rural while also attracting new development in its urban areas.

"So many things have been turned down. There’s nothing at any of the six interchanges along [Interstate] 64 that would make somebody want to stop in this area and spend money on a meal or a hotel room. There's nothing," said the candidate.

Randolph has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election.
