FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The Fluvanna Farm Heritage Museum, located at Pleasant Grove, is set to open in May of 2019.

The museum features antique farm equipment dating back to the Civil War era all the way up to the 1960’s.

Fluvanna's Historical Society worked alongside the county to build the museum to showcase the area's agricultural roots.

Officials hope the new attraction will teach those living in the county more about its history, as well as bring in new visitors to the area.

Marvin Moss, the president of the Fluvanna Historical Society said, “Fluvanna County, throughout its history, has its major source of livelihood has been agriculture, not industry. So traditionally this county has been sort of a microcosm of the agricultural production of the commonwealth of Virginia itself.”

“This museum is a good attraction to get people from outside the county into our county, it gives us another historical aspect to show you know what we do inside and outside of Fluvanna County,” said Aaron Spitzer, director of Fluvanna County's Parks and Recreation.

The museum is set to officially open to the public on Fluvanna County's Old Farm Day on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
