CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Another Democrat has joined the race for Charlottesville’s City Council.

Brian Pinkston announced his candidacy on Monday evening. He has lived in the Charlottesville area for nearly 15 years.

Pinkston currently works at the University of Virginia as Associate Director for Planning, Project Services, and Facilities Management. He also earned his PhD in Philosophy from UVA in 2012.

On his campaign website, Pinkston lists racial reconciliation, increased opportunity for equity, investment in schools and housing as his top priorities.

Pinkston joins a group of Democratic candidates for City Council which already includes Sena Magill, Lloyd Snook, and Michael Payne.

The City Council Primary Election will be on June 11, followed by the General Election on November 5.
