CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - People in Charlottesville are looking to the arts in efforts to help homeless individuals in the area.

On Saturday, January 19, New City Arts and The Haven hosted their annual art auction at Old Metropolitan Hall and Common House.

Most of the art was created by artists in the area.

Attendees were able to place bids on artwork and the proceeds go toward the Housing2Home Program, which is a joint program between The Haven and New City Arts.

Lindsey Leahy, the program manager at New City Arts and creative coordinator for Housing2Home said, “Art is for everyone and in this program we allow clients to buy art, this event allows us to do that. So it brings art into the homes of our formerly homeless clients and it supports local artists in our community.”

The Housing2Home Program works with recently housed individuals to help them decorate and beautify their new homes.
