CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A Charlottesville defense attorney is launching a campaign for City Council.

Lloyd Snook announced on Facebook that he will kick-off his campaign for the Democratic nomination on Thursday. He will hold an event on Tuesday evening at Bashir's Taverna on the Downtown Mall to launch his campaign.

Snook says that Charlottesville government has become dysfunctional and needs stable leadership. He believes the current City Council is on the wrong track.

Snook served on the city's Planning Commission in the 1980s. He has also served as a legal analyst for NBC29.

So far, two other Democrats have announced their candidacies. Three City Council seats are up for election in November.
