CAPTIVA ISLAND, Fla. - Fire crews with the Captiva Island Fire District responded to a boat fire Friday morning.

Chief Jeff Pawul said the fire happened behind a home on Captiva Drive, where firefighters found both a boat and a dock engulfed.

Chief Pawul said the boat had separated from the dock when firefighters arrived. At one point, firefighters attempted to put out the fire on the boat but had to abandon it after it floated too far away.

It is unclear at this time what caused the fire.

An investigation is ongoing.
