NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A couple living in Nelson County is building houses for others in the Charlottesville area, while also working on their own forever home.
Holly Wood and her husband Damond Shelton are putting in hundreds of hours to construct homes alongside other Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
Both work in Charlottesville, and they applied to be a partner family with Habitat more than two years ago.
Now, after hours of financial classes and construction, the two are looking forward to moving into their new home.
“It has been very amazing, not only to learn the skills to build a home, but also to give your time to others,” Wood said. “I see families come in that are similar to ours, they just want to be stable, they just want to have a forever home and to be able to provide that to others also feels amazing.”
The couple is set to move into their new home in the spring of 2019.
